Clothe Me In Earth

Clothe me in earth
let me feel its rhythm
of time gone by
time that was mine

Saturate my soul
with new beginnings
birthed from a death
that spawns life’s breath

Hold me ever close
when wind’s chill whistles
and leaves hit the ground,
a crunching sound

Warm me with your touch
as clouds cry white drops –
ice in my hands
blanket on the land

The end is not the end;
we sleep in silence
as we’re renewed
our burdens removed

Midnight Promise

image

You’ve sewn a thousand promise rings
into the silky overhang
of sky

Eternity lies at the shore
with sand no longer caged for
keeping time

Your kisses light the path I walk
when midnight dreams are tucked away
to rest

Beneath the rhythms of your heart,
my head against the pillow of
your chest

Roam of the Restless

Drum drum goes the heart
Rush rush goes the blood
Open empty drawers again
but meaning’s never found within

Slice slice goes the pain
Twist twist breath constrict
Shards of broken what-could-be’s
are buried beneath memories

Wide wide go the eyes
Down down goes the brow
Universe inside my soul
Will it forever be unkown?

Dirt dirt is the earth
Drop drop is the sea
Canyon longing hints at need
for endless ocean filling me

Limp limp go the limbs
Dark dark goes the view
Fading, sinking deeper still
through depths of empty, frozen will

One

Breath

In

Out

End

Come

Quick

Now

White white goes the sky
High high the stranger flies
Love descends in heavy waves
of dreams and wishes from death raised

Drum drum goes the heart
Rush rush goes the blood
Cosmos crashing: crying, laughing
From old life to new I’m passing

This is love that’s everlasting

Culminate in still serene;
In sweetest silence fin’lly free

Eyes eyes
open open
Love’s repaired
what once was broken

Sunburst

I do not want my love to be
a cage around my heart,
pressing heavy in my chest
until I cannot breathe

I want my love to be the key
that opens up the door
for bursting light to shine within
until I am set free

The Roar of Winter’s End

A poem inspired by a personal winter and C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia.

winterlion

The winter of my soul
has been long, has been cold
But the Lion
is on the move

It’s been dark, it’s been damp
It’s been lonely in this land
But the Lion
is on the move

The flowers start to bloom
in a field of sweet perfume
Yes, the Lion
is on the move

And the bright blue sky
waves the dark gray clouds goodbye
Yes, the Lion
is on the move

He’s on the move

When He roars
the snow is shaken from the trees
the earth breaks out in melodies
of new life

When He roars
the drip of melting icicles
tells me that the winter of my soul
is almost
over

When He roars
the river rushes to the sound
soaking dry and thirsty ground
with new life

When He roars
the chirping of singing birds
tells me that the winter of my soul
is nearly
over

The Lion is on the move
The Lion is breaking through
The Lion, the Lion, the Lion
is here

Echo of a Naked Soul

spaceearth

Letting go of words
that were never mine –
words that pass from
mouth to mouth,
chewed to blandness ’til
all meaning is lost

I find you in the simple,
in what is mine

You are the secret meetings
beneath an ebony sky
dotted with stars

You are the strength of the trees
and the kiss in the wind

You are the silly jokes
and deep belly laughs

You are the in between
of dreaming and awake

You are the silence;
the utter stillness where
truth resounds in an
endless echo

You are the heartbeat,
and the blood,
and the veins

You are the heavy falling tears,
whether from unspeakable bliss
or broken gratitude
I am never sure

You are the whispers
gliding over my skin –
of love and longing
and redemption

You are the gentle caress
of my naked soul,
the hovering
tingling breath

You are the pinnacle where
my empty is your full
and I fade and bloom in
an instant;
we mingle and bleed
like a river bursting
through a dam

You are more than I
can capture in words
but for now
you are simply

mine
